Continuing story of the foot

So, I'm walking around with just my Ace bandage now, and a regular shoe. I'm happily in not very much pain, and since I've taken the boot off, there hasn't been enough pain to be a nuisance. I'm still limping quite a bit and am not too good with stairs. I don't think this is really due to the fact that I am incapable of walking normally in my condition as it is a case of needing to reteach my brain how to walk normally. It still seems to be a little confused as to where exactly the ground is and what joints are able to bend. It didn't hurt too much after teaching on Friday, and I had the boot off all day, so I guess standing isn't too bad...though I did try to be nice to it that day. We'll see how it does this week.

Simon seems to have been missing us particularly this week. Whenever we go away, even if it's just for half an hour, he meows pitiously at the window when he sees us coming back, as if to say, "Where have you been and why have you been ignoring me?" I guess he likes us anyway.

While I feel I have been posting very little, I can't think of anything else going on in my life right now. Toodles.

Good news!

I just left the doctor's office, and my foot is healing well! That means I can wear normal shoes now, as long as they have a stiff bottom and it doesn't hurt too much. Yay!

I've survived the first five days of school. I'm feeling much better after a few days and figuring out those little details like, where's my mailbox, which copier makes duplex copies, which door I go out for bus duty....And I'm actually remembering almost all my students' names, which is a good thing.

As I'm starting the year, I'm already thinking about next year...I'm told it's a textbook adoption year. That's good because I'll get to put in some input on what book might be best. It could be frustrating though, because a lot of the work time I'm spending now is because I'm adjusting to the curriculum and figuring out what's there and how best to use it. So if we choose a new textbook next year, then I'll have to learn that one. However, given a choice between using a known curriculum or using one that's better, I'd pick the better one, so I guess when the time comes, I'll see what's out there.

Oh yeah, and my feet hurt. My feet always seem to hurt for a few weeks after school starts, because I stand a lot when I'm teaching and my feet aren't used to it. It's a bit worse this year with a broken foot, but not as bad as I feared....

Oy, back home now, to amuse the cat, and perhaps myself. (We got a new laser pointer. If you haven't seen Simon chase the little red dot, well, it's a show!)

Quick Update

Well, it's been a busy few weeks....

I have a new job teaching ENL (English as a New Language) at West Noble Schools in Ligonier. I'm half time at the middle school and half time at the high school. I'm very excited about starting, though a little nervous, like I always am at the beginning of a school year.

I'm now hobbling around pretty good in my walking cast/boot. It's better than a regular cast because I can take it off to bathe. Though I'm not walking particularly fast. I have a copy of my x-rays. Maybe if I ever have time, I'll scan them and post them here.

Hmm, what else? I'm done tutoring for the summer. And we sold our firstborn child to get new windows. Ok, not quite that, but we do have nice new windows.

Oy, musical revue tonight. That said, I'd better get along home to get ready. All y'all* who read this, come to New World Arts at 7:00 today or tomorrow (that's August 11 and 12)!

*Sorry about the y'all. I picked it up from my students who come from Texas.
